You are invited to Skepticamp: Science and Skepticism in Seattle on the weekend of August 16-18

 

What is Skepticamp?

It is a combination of social activities and public talks about skeptical and scientific thinking presented by a mix of local and nationally recognized speakers that will take place on the weekend of August 16 through August 18. Skepticamp is free and sponsored by the Seattle Skeptics and Science Enthusiasts and the Committee of Scientific Inquiry (Publishers of the journal Skeptical Inquirer).

Attendance at all events is free!

Seating is limited to approximately 75, so be sure to RSVP (see below)

The social activities are taking place on Friday the 16th and Sunday the 18th and the free talks will take place on the 17th at two locations.

You’re welcome to attend any or all of the events.

 

Friday, August 16:  Walk, Talk, and Dinner

5:00 p.m. to 6 or 6:30. A Skeptical Stroll around Green Lake in Seattle. (Approximately three miles of flat ground.) Meet at the Greenlake Starbucks between 5:00 and 5:15 p.m.

After the (optional) walk, we will meet at approximately 6 to 6:30 at the Green Lake Bar and Grill (located one block north of Starbucks) for drinks and dinner.


Saturday August 17: Presentations 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

10:30-noon  Meet at Ampersand Cafe on Alki in West Seattle

Optional Sunday Skeptical Scenic Stroll along Puget Sound from Alki beach to Anchor Park and back to Ampersand (3  total miles of flat sidewalk.)

 

2:00 p.m. until whenever

Potluck/BBQ at Scot Bastian’s house (located in West Seattle approximately six miles South of Alki Beach). I’ll be serving unicorn steaks and bigfoot burgers and a variety of drinks and snacks. A grill will be available.  

There will be a very special presentation reading of a couple of short plays written and performed by Scot Bastian and one or two other local actors.

Exact location will be announced at all of the prior events or is available from Scot's email account.

Please indicate in the RSVP for the presentations whether you are attending the day session (at the Broadview Library Branch, or the evening presentations at Razzi’s Pizzeria, or both.
